Caroline Maluleka graduated with a MBChB degree in 2002 from MEDUNSA and an MMED(Micro) in 2013. She has worked as a pathologist since 2013 and moved to the National Institution of Communicable Diseases (NICD) as Senior Pathologist in 2023, where she still works.
Previous and current positions include scientific advisor at the South African Vaccination &Immunization Centre (SAVIC) (2017-2019), clinical expert advisor at the Council for Medical Schemes (CMS) (2019-2020), antimicrobial stewardship committee member for Gauteng province, medical advisor for BioMerieux (2020-2023), senior pathologist at National Health Laboratory Services – NICD since 2023, and also since 2013 a member of FIDSSA.
She co-authored several peer-reviewed journals and has a special interest in mycology, AMR, AMS and HAIs.
