Prof Neelaveni Padayachee is an accomplished academic and public health professional with over two decades of experience across multiple facets of the public health environment within Africa, particularly in low- and middle-income country contexts. Her work spans national and regional initiatives aimed at strengthening health systems, improving medicine quality, and advancing patient safety.
She has an extensive research and academic portfolio, with more than 45 peer-reviewed publications addressing key areas such as substandard and falsified medicines, pharmacovigilance, rational medicine use, and health systems strengthening. Her work contributes to evidence-based policy development and improved regulatory practices in pharmaceutical and public health systems.
Prof Padayachee has continued to expand her expertise through advanced training and certifications in research methodology and epidemiological practices, further strengthening her capacity to lead and support high-quality health research.
In addition to her academic contributions, she has served the profession through regulatory and professional development roles. She has been actively involved with the South African Pharmacy Council as a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) assessor and moderator. She has contributed as an inspector for over 15 years, supporting compliance with professional standards and regulatory frameworks in pharmacy practice.
