Nhlanhla G. Mafarafara

Nhlanhla G. Mafarafara is a public health pharmacist and healthcare leader dedicated to strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems in the area of leadership, governance, institutional performance efficiency and performance improvement. Currently, with over 16 years in the public sector, 10 of which he spent occupying management roles, both a pharmacy manager and a hospital executive management. He is the past Sector vice president of the Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa and the immediate past president of the South African Association of Hospital and Institutional Pharmacists.

In 2025, he represented South Africa as a member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation Medicines Usage Global Advisory Group (under the Hospital Pharmacy Section). He is also an elected member of the South African Pharmacy Council (2024-2029). He is passionate about leadership development, team performance, and advocacy for the recognition and full utilisation of pharmacists. He has worked with emerging pharmacy managers, various healthcare professionals, public speakers, entrepreneurs, and business as a coach. He has directly reached over 600 early-career pharmacists in Limpopo through board exam workshops, training, career mentorship, and coaching. He holds BPharm degree from UL and Masters in Pharmacy (PHPM) from SMU.
